[edit] Southland Weather Wiki Page Introduction
Welcome.
[edit] Purpose
The Southland Weather Wiki strives to be a user-driven, interactive extension of Middle Tennessee Weather Center, hosted at Armleg Forums.
[edit] Who we are
This is a community of weather enthusiasts. We are of the amateur and novice breed, and we have discussions on weather, climate, historical events, and forecasting. Some of us even write our own forecasts. We analyze forecasts and model biases as well.
[edit] Plans for expansion
In the coming days and weeks, SW@Wikia will expand greatly, and our services will gradually transfer from the forum to the Wiki. I plan to transfer every shred of information stored there onto this site between now and Independence Day.
[edit] Site rules and methodology
Here are some guidelines and specifications. Those items to which you should pay more careful attention will be in bold.
[edit] Discussion
We discuss on the discussion panel of each article. All articles are to be semi-protected after creation to prevent non-users from blanking or vandalism. By the way, if you are a user and you are disrespectful to anyone on this site or in this site in general, you will be banned, in addition to having your IP address blocked, which means that if you are in a public place, like a library, and you don't follow this rule, that no one will be able to use this site in that library until IP addresses are reassigned. Basically you will ruin it for everyone. As sysop of this site, I will spare no mercy and shed no tears for you, not because I'm an insensitive jerk, but because I don't have the time or the energy, and unless you make major, major contributions to this site, I will make no exception.
[edit] Writing forecasts
I will follow this rule strictly with some leniency. When you write a forecast, you will actually write the forecast in the discussion panel first. All members of the site will then evaluate the forecast and search for model biases and other potential errors. When the forecast has been edited sufficiently, you may then post the forecast on the actual forecast page. A graphical version of the forecast may appear alongside the textual forecast. Between seven and fourteen forecasts per city may appear on one page, with one page representing a week. (I say per city because I intend to have this site cover the entire Southeast at some point in the future.)
